Dame Angela Lansbury, described as the 'first lady' of musical theatre, sadly passed away at the age of 96. Whilst people all over the world are mourning her loss, she has a particular place in the hearts of LGBT+ people due to her tireless work to help the community and her iconic acting roles that she has portrayed during her long career.
Throughout her career and animation, she dedicated herself to raising money for the AIDS pandemic that swept the nation, raising millions for the cause. Bringing to life some of the most important and iconic roles in production, Lansbury has truly cemented herself as a male lover icon and a legend in the business.

Murder, She Wrote actress Angela Lansbury had a glittering journey in television, film and Broadway since her career began in the 1940s.
Angela, who died aged 96 at her home in Los Angeles on Tuesday, had enormous success when she first started her acting career.
She was nominated for an Oscar for her first role, as the maid in the 1944 classic Gaslight, and went on to work with stars including Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
A year after being nominated, when she was 19, she married actor Richard Cromwell. The two eloped and tied the knot in a small civil ceremony in September 1945.
Although the marriage ended in 1946, they remained friends until his death in 1960.
The actress previously revealed Richard departed with no warning and left her a write down which read: "Sorry. I can't go on."

Dame Angela Lansbury, star of film, TV, and theatre for 80 years, has died at the age of 96.
The Irish-British-American actor was foremost known for her head role in the long-running US TV show Murder, She Wrote, in which she played Jessica Fletcher, a crime writer turned amateur detective. Lansbury was also a prominent celestial body in films in Hollywood’s Golden Age, though her career was later defined by success on Broadway, including roles in Mame and Sweeney Todd.
Lansbury was “one of the biggest women of American theatre and screen” said Highlight Lawson at The Guardian, and part of the “acting aristocracy” in Britain, Ireland and the US.

The death of acclaimed actress Angela Lansbury saddened the entertainment planet and has led to tributes from many reflecting on her legacy. Lansbury died Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles, according to a remark from her three children. She died five days shy of her 97th birthday.
Her husband, Peter Shaw, passed away in 2003. They were famously married for over five decades, but it wasn’t the star’s first marriage.
In 1945, she eloped with the matinee idol Richard Cromwell, who was 16 years her senior but the relationship failed after less than a year when he revealed he was gay, the BBC reported.
