With a prosperous history of civil rights, it shouldn't come as a shock that Rochester is among the most welcoming, LGBTQ-friendly metro areas in the U.S., previously ranked 11th in Advocate’s Gayest Cities in America list. It's also one of the most culturally abundant. Rochester has also previously received a flawless score of 100 from the Human Rights Campaign.
Tucked between Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes wine region, the tradition of dignity for all runs deep here. Susan B. Anthony's home, a National Historic Landmark, still stands in Rochester and is open to the common. Frederick Douglass established his abolitionist newspaper, The North Star, here. The first statue in the nation honoring an African-American still stands in Highland Park.

The area that is now Rochester was founded by Colonel Nathan Rochester. It was officially incorporated as “Rochesterville” in 1817, and its name was shortened to Rochester five years later. Rochester is often called both the “Flour City” and the “Flower City,” because as it began to grow in the mid-1800s, the town had a thriving mill industry and a profitable seed trade as adequately. Since its founding, Rochester has continued its expansion and is today a major manufacturing center, dwelling to many corporations, tech companies, and other businesses – not to state having a thriving arts and culture scene, and consistently being ranked as a wonderful city for families. Truly, Rochester has it all!

Roar was born in 2019 by DJ Mighty Mic and DeeDee Dubois along with the love and support of their husbands.
Our emphasize is creating a singular and safe place for the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.With a fabulous drink menu and full kitchen featuring many homemade items, end in for dinner on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and accomplish not miss our happiest hours featuring $2 off drinks from 5-7PM.
We feature local flamboyant talent every day but in different ways than a traditional drag prevent would.
Something for everyone isn't just a tag line...
From trivia, karaoke, painting classes, spin classes, happiest hours, dinner shows, brunches, dwell bands, and comedy to full club nights with two floors of dancing featuring local and guest DJ's and drag performers from across the country.
Guide To Pride in Rochester NY
Each year, Pride celebrates the accomplishments and history of the LGBTQ+ society. Produced by Trillium Health, Rochester Pride is one of New York State's largest pride festivals north of New York Capital. This year, as always, Rochester Pride encourages the community to be real to themselves, find inspiration from icons in the LGBTQ+ community and apply every color of the spectrum to highlight distinctiveness and diversity.
