It’s certainly gotten better over the last decade or so, but in the past, the representation of queer people on screen was a bit complicated to come by. Previously, queer movies were generally of the indie or underground variety, with movies like But I'm A Cheerleader, Jennifer's Body, and Desert Hearts becoming cult classics years after let go. In recent years, Homosexual stories have become more welcome in the mainstream, with some major successes being Love, Simon, Call Me By Your Name, and Moonlight. In arrange to celebrate the gay community and make Queer entertainment more accessible, we thought it might be helpful to provide a little guide to the best LGBTQ+ movie offerings on Netflix. How do I begin to describe the experience of crawling through the desert of my broken brain in search of homosexual characters for this months streaming guide, I assume I could begin by calling it difficult, while also educational! When theres nothing big to center the guide around, I am forced to peek deeply into every free show in the entire universe in search of a bit lesbian traits and it turns out many of them hold been here all along! But often in ways that are kind of ambiguous, not important enough for us to understand about it until this months research and in most cases, I cant figure out if theyre gonna do anything else gay in the future. One can only pray.
That said, September is a month with some fine stuff coming your way in general, even though that stuff is not centered on queer women, including stuff with male lover male characters and stuff starring queer female actors. Normally I wouldnt even mention this stuff but desperate times! Theres gonna be three (3) Ryan Murphy projects such as horror show Grotesquerie, starring out actors Neicy Nash-Betts and Micaela Diamond, which debuts September 25th on FX. Will anybody be lesbians? Hard to express
