Am i going to hell for being gay

“Am I Going to Hell?”

Traditionally, Christianity has considered homosexual attraction to be sinful. A lot of Homosexual people question their Christian beliefs and worry about their soul as they try to figure out who they are.

But just as our cultural views of sexuality have changed, so have our religious views. Religious leaders are grappling with whether scripture regarding homosexuality and gay marriage should be reinterpreted.

“When it comes right down to it, you treasure people the way Jesus loved people, and you ignore the political questions,” Dr. Timothy Kovalcik, a Millikin history and political science professor, said. “You love the people in front of you regardless of who they are and what they’re doing, regardless of what you think about it. That’s the ultimate underlying principle.”

Kovalcik serves as the Scholar-in-Residence at Decatur’s Westminster Presbyterian Church. Kovalcik’s church has not made an official statement on their views of homosexuality. The congregation sees it as a “political time bomb” and “distraction.”

But he acknowledges that a lot of people have questions about religion and sexuality.

This I Believe: Same-sex attracted Forever, Hell For Never

You’re going to hell. Yes, you, the immature male wearing the blaring shirt, scarf, and skinny jeans. Yes, you, the student tutor with a 3.8 GPA, who aspires to have a family, who has goals for your life and a career in mind and who was baptized in a Southern Baptist church? none of that matters when the TRUTH is that you aren’t natural and neither are your actions.

The previous paragraph is what much of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender) community hears on a daily basis from “Christians” everywhere. As a youthful gay man, I contain learned to hide it in front of “those” people; the ones who I know will condemn me for wearing eyeliner in public or holding my boyfriend’s hand. I have quickly learned that in their eyes it doesn’t matter what benign of home I was raised in, what compassionate of childhood I had, or how many scriptures I memorized between the ages of five and twelve. None of it matters as long as I want to inhabit happily ever after with my handsome prince instead of the stereotypical and “normal” princess that community wishes for me to have.

My God and I have talked about the fact that I

How Do I Help My Gay Friend?

by D’Ann Davis

“How do I help my gay friend?”  This is a question we learn constantly in the Living Hope office, when out speaking at events, or from friends and church members from around the world.  Twenty years ago few Christians asked this question, for few knew any same gender attracted people, or if they did know them, they were ignorant to their friend’s struggles.  Today almost everyone knows of someone who identifies as male lover or deals with a measure of same gender attractions.  Even if a Christian finds himself in a season of experience where he does not personally know of a same gender attracted (SGA) person in his sphere of influence, this doubt is of utmost importance in light of the change of our customs and the growing willingness of Christians dealing with SGA to openly discuss about their issues.  So how does one support a gay-identified friend or SGA friend?

The first response I typically give to this question is actually another question.  “Does your friend know Jesus?”  This is a vital first question any believer must tackle before attempting to help a friend deal with her sexual attractions.  This is because there are two different ro

You Will Go to Hell

Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals1, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9b-10.)

A professing Christian husband and father leaves his wife of thirty years for a young gal the age of his daughter. A Sunday University teacher is obsessed with his favourite sports team, going into short legal title debt to make trips all over the land to watch his team play. A college scholar heavily involved with the local collegiate ministry regularly has sexual intercourse with his girlfriend. A youthful man attends church regularly but frequents gay bars, looking for gay men, and goes home with them. A seeming loving and well adjusted womxn loving womxn couple, who know the Bible well, claim to love Jesus. An elder in a church regularly cheats on his income tax and steals capital from his company. A young mother who teaches children’s church constantly badgers her husband for a bigger house, a nicer car, better clothing and runs up huge credit card bills trying to satiate her covetous and idolatrous lifestyle.
